Thudicum Nasal Speculum

Uses of Thudicum nasal speculum

• Examination of the nasal cavity

• To visualize the nasal septum

• To examine the inferior and middle turbinates

• To identify nasal polyps, foreign bodies, crusting, or discharge

• To assess nasal bleeding (epistaxis) and locate a possible bleeding site

• To assist in minor nasal procedures, such as removal of a foreign body or applying medication

• To inspect the nasal mucosa for inflammation, swelling, ulcers, or other abnormalities

In medical school: Its main use is anterior rhinoscopy—to visualize the anterior nasal cavity.
